David Bond, DDS

Dr. David M. Bond graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was honored with the prestigious Tom Lauer Award as the most inspirational dental student throughout his four years. He went on to complete a residency at the University of Utah, further sharpening his clinical skills and passion for patient care. Following his training, Dr. Bond opened his own dental practice from the ground up. Over the course of 15 years, he grew the practice to two thriving locations in Jerome, Idaho, with four dental associates. His practice was recognized as Business of the Year in Idaho, a testament to his dedication to both dentistry and the community. After selling the practice to two of his associates, Dr. Bond supported his wife’s ventures in Arizona while continuing his career in dentistry. He spent time with Reeses Dental before joining Smile Brands, where he earned the honor of Dentist of the Year among 300 peers. After a short period practicing in Savannah, Georgia, Dr. Bond found his home with Platinum Dental in Provo, Utah. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Bond treasures time with his family. He and his wife are the proud parents of five children: two attending college in Provo, one serving a mission in Florida, and twin nine-year-old daughters who keep life fun and full of energy. Excited for this next chapter, Dr. Bond looks forward to serving the Provo community, learning new things, and building lasting relationships with his patients.

Randy Kwon, DMD

I haven’t been to the dentist in years and was so nervous, but Dr. Kwon completely listened to my fears without any judgment. He and his team are so welcoming and actually make the environment fun. I left feeling so much better than when I walked in!

Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Randy Kwon believes that exceptional dentistry starts with treating the whole person, not just their teeth. He joined this practice because of its efficient team and warm atmosphere, working hard alongside his staff to maintain an environment that is both highly professional and lighthearted. For Dr. Kwon, the most rewarding part of his day is helping patients achieve and maintain healthy smiles while leaving the chair in a better condition than when they arrived. He understands that dental anxiety is common, which is why he prioritizes active listening and reassurance to turn stressful appointments into positive experiences, always reminding patients that it is never too late to take care of their oral health. This patient-first dedication stems from a profound personal journey. For most of his life, Dr. Kwon was a C or D student, even repeating a grade in middle school, but discovering his passion for dentistry changed everything—driving him to earn his biology degree from Utah Valley University and graduate from Roseman University in June 2026. Now an active member of the ADA with a special interest in oral surgery, he brings fresh energy and a deeply empathetic perspective to the office. When he isn’t caring for patients, Dr. Kwon is married with three children and loves spending quality time with his family, weightlifting, running, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors.

Edward Hernandez, DMD

Dr. Hernandez is great! I’m usually super nervous about the dentist, but he really listened to me and made sure the whole visit was completely painless. He genuinely cares and explains everything so well. Highly recommend him!

Dr. Edward Hernandez is happy to call the Tooele Valley home again. His journey to becoming a dental provider began long before his formal education. Guided by a meticulous eye for detail and a genuine interest in listening to others, he wants every patient to be well-informed and to enjoy a predictable, painless dental experience. Dr. Hernandez attended dental school in the Bluegrass State at the University of Louisville. Promptly following graduation, he served as a dental officer at the Fort Bliss Army installation in El Paso, Texas, where he had the opportunity to work closely with many specialists and highly capable general dentists. Upon concluding his four years of service, Dr. Hernandez elected to trade the sandy, parched desert of West Texas to return to greener pastures. In his spare time, he is happiest when spending quality time with his son and family. He also enjoys everyday activities he has loved for years, such as running and cooking. If there is one point Dr. Hernandez wants to emphasize to the Tooele community, it is that he truly cares for its people and families, and he strives to provide the highest standard of care for every patient, every time.

Dr. Luis Franco - Endodontist

I had a retreat root canal done yesterday, and have had zero pain afterward. Dr. Franco has the nicest bedside manner and has the greatest skills to go along with kindness. I highly recommend using him for your endodontics!

Dr. Franco is a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as an officer. He received his degree in Flight Operations from Westminster College, DDS from the University of Utah and completed his residency in Endodontics at Boston University. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics, the American Dental Association, the Utah Dental Association and Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association. Dr. Franco has a passion for educating others about patient care and the incredibly interesting world of endodontics. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, swimming and learning how to play the piano and electric guitar.

Dr. Shaun Heward - Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon

I had oral surgery today. I had anesthesia and everything went perfectly. The whole team was great! Dr. Shaun Heward, the surgeon, is so caring and kind. He called me twice before my surgery to explain everything that would be done and to answer my questions. It really put me at ease.

Dr. Shaun Heward was born and raised in Sandy, Utah. He attended Alta High School and completed his undergraduate at University of Utah. During this time he worked as a dental laboratory technician making crowns and bridges. He then moved to Lexington, Kentucky where he completed dental school at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Following dental school, he began medical school at the University of Michigan Medical School. While at the University of Michigan, he also completed his internship in general surgery, residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and was a chief resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Heward has extensive surgical training in corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), tumors/cysts of the jaws, face trauma, dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, cleft lip and palate, face reconstruction and bone grafting. He is delighted to have moved back to his home state of Utah and working with Platinum Dental Services. He also has a passion for serving others abroad and continues to treat less fortunate patients on mission trips overseas. When Dr. Heward is not at work he enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, biking, shooting, gardening, wood working and cooking.

Dr. Michael Reid - Orthodontist

Dr. Reid is an excellent orthodontist who truly listens and explains everything clearly. His friendly approach and attention to detail made my experience easy and comfortable. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Reid grew up in a family of six children, in Irvine, California. After serving a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas Fort Worth Mission, he attended Brigham Young University. Upon graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in Nutritional Science, Dr. Reid attended the number one dental school in the country: the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. While at Michigan, he had the privilege to travel to Africa to provide dental services and oral health education to the underserved adolescent population of rural Kenya. Immediately following dental school, Dr. Reid moved to the deep south to complete a hospital-based residency program for an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Reid then moved to Georgia to complete his orthodontic specialty training at the Georgia School of Orthodontics. In his free time, you can find Dr. Reid spending plenty of time outdoors. He is an avid and competitive soccer player, frequent hiker, and aggressive snowboarder. He loves golfing, going to the beach, playing the guitar, and rooting for BYU and Michigan sports teams. Dr. Reid is married to his lovely wife, Lauren, and together they have five beautiful children—three girls and two boys.

Dr. Tony Rey - Periodontist

I’m usually pretty nervous about dental work, but Dr. Rey and his team were great. He’s very gentle and took the time to answer all my questions. The office is efficient and I didn’t have to wait long. If you’re looking for a periodontist who actually listens, he’s the one.

Dr. Rey started his journey to becoming a periodontist by working as a dental assistant for a periodontist prior to starting dental school. His desire to take on a dental assisting job early in his career gave him the opportunity to learn directly in a clinical setting. Observing how an experienced clinician treated patients with genuine care and attention helped shape Dr. Rey’s understanding of what exceptional care should look like. This experience helped shape the kind of clinician he wanted to become and also helped him find a love for the surgical side of dentistry. Now, years later after earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Utah School of Dentistry, completing a 36-month Advanced Dental Education Program in Periodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, and earning a Master of Science in Dentistry in Periodontics degree at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, he provides periodontal care for patients through Platinum Dental Services.
